Walking with the Divine: My Reflections on Working with Deities

Asia Gates • July 28, 2025

Lately, I’ve been deep in thought about something that’s becoming an incredibly meaningful part of my spiritual journey—working with deities. It’s one of those topics that stirs up curiosity, inner questions, and a lot of soul-searching. The deeper I go, the more I realize how transformative and intimate the experience can be.

Opening the Door to the Divine

For many people—including myself—building a relationship with divine beings isn’t just about rituals or offerings. It’s about creating a sacred connection that brings comfort, strength, and clarity. These are not just archetypes or names in books; they become living energies, mentors, and companions who speak to the very core of who we are.

Working with deities invites us to reflect on our beliefs, question the stories we’ve been told, and discover our own truths. And in that process, it challenges us to be more grounded, more intentional, and more receptive.

Communication is a Journey

One of the biggest revelations I’ve had is this: communication with deities is a journey, not a destination. It's not about getting it perfect. It's not about grand signs every day or hearing voices from the sky. Sometimes it’s a whisper in your intuition. Sometimes it’s a dream, a gut feeling, or a moment of stillness that tells you, “I’m not alone.”

There’s a learning curve, no doubt. It takes patience to recognize the signs, courage to follow the guidance, and humility to admit when you misinterpret something. But through it all, there’s growth. There’s beauty in the unfolding.

Respect, Reverence, and an Open Heart

Above all else, I’ve learned that respect and open-mindedness are key when working with divine beings. These energies are sacred. They’re not here to be controlled, demanded, or tested. They're here to co-create with us, to walk beside us as we heal, evolve, and remember who we truly are.

Respect means doing your research. Learning about the traditions, cultures, and histories these deities come from. It means not mixing and matching just for aesthetics, but honoring the real spiritual significance behind every name and symbol.

And being open-minded? That’s your gateway. You might get messages or signs that don’t “make sense” at first. You might be called to work with a deity you’ve never even heard of before. Trust the process.

Inner Peace is the True Gift

In the end, it’s not just about power, magic, or miracles (though those things are real and beautiful). It’s about finding peace and understanding within your own heart and soul. When you work with deities from a place of integrity and love, they reflect that back to you. They hold a mirror to your inner world and show you your own divine potential.

It’s a sacred relationship—one that evolves with time, just like any deep connection in life.

Final Thoughts

Whether you're new to this path or have been walking it for years, remember that your spiritual journey is your own. No two paths look exactly the same, and that’s the beauty of it. Keep learning, keep listening, and keep growing.

And above all… keep your heart open to the divine.
